Pairings
Nothing complements quality grass-fed beef better than a nice wine. Since taste and preference are subjective, everyone will have different opinions on which flavors pair best with each other. With this in mind, we encourage you to experiment and discover your own favorite combinations.
Here are some of our favourites.
Cabernet Sauvignon
Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the worlds most popular varieties. Originally grown in Bordeaux, France, this grape is now grown around the world. It produces a wine rich in flavour that has high tannin content. These characteristics make it ideal for grilled meats, peppery sauces and dishes that are high in flavour. Decant for 60 minutes and serve in an oversized glass.
Malbec
Originally from France, but championned by the Argentines, Malbec has bold fruity flavours and a smooth finish. It goes welll with leaner red meats such as grassfed beef. Decant for 30 minutes and serve in a red wine glass.
Jackson Triggs make one of our favourite Malbecs.
Merlot
Merlot is easily available and frequently found on wine lists either by the bottle or glass. Merlot is also one of the best wines to serve at Weddings and Banquets. The silky soft flavors of cherry and plum make it an incredible crowd-pleaser. Additional flavors of caramel, brown sugar, smoke, and cocoa, only further seal the deal. Meanwhile, the moderate tannin and acidity make Merlot a winner with a wide variety of dishes.
We love Reds...
As you can see, we are fans of Red Wines.
But again, taste is subjective. It's always interesting to explore new flavors and varieties. You might find a White that pairs exceptionally well with Hazelwood Harvests Grassfed Beef!
